The Sparkfun Arduino ProtoShield kit mates with the USB Arduino and
Freeduino SB boards, and sets you up with:
- A small soldering area
- Two general indicator LEDs
- A BlueSMirF socket for wireless communication modules
- A reset switch
- A general pushbutton switch
- All Arduino / Freeduino SB I/O pins, including 5V,
Gnd, and Raw pins are brought to the top level
If you want to do anything relatively custom to an
Arduino-style microcontroller, you'll find a board like this immensely
handy. You can even stick a mini-breadboard
onto the top of the soldering area!
The kit includes:
- 1 - Protoshield bare PCB
- 1 - 40pin break-away male header
- 3 - 6-pin female connector
- 2 - 8-pin female connector
- 1 - 4-pin female connector
- 2 - Bright 5mm LEDs
- 2 - 330 Ohm resistors
- 2 - Momentary push buttons
- 1 - 10k resistor
- 2 - 0.1uF Capacitors
It's a really straight-forward kit, but if you need instructions, the
atomicsalad blog has put up a tutorial
on how they use it.
This is one we're using in house, tweaked-out with a mini-breadboard and a few socket pins.
