The Basic Stamp 1 microcontroller is the grand-daddy of all
the easy-to-use microcontrollers on the market, so it's been around for
a long time, and is very well proven. It's ideal for simple,
single applications, but it's pretty darn tiny. Leave it to Parallax to
resurrect it in a really convenient package, that's a great
value!
This development board is onlyl 3-1/4" x 2-1/2" (8.3 x 6.4 cm) in size,
but includes:
- 9V battery clip
- 2.1mm power jack
- DB-9 Serial programming connector
- LM2936 5V regulator
- Surface mount BASIC STAMP 1 microcontroller
That's just the board. It also comes with a small
solderless-breadboard that sticks right on, and 10
jumper wires for your first experiments! Parallax also
pre-wired 220 ohm resistors in series with all the I/O to make it
goof-proof!
THIS is really a great value,
especially if you have a simple application, or are just wanting to
"get your feet wet" with microcontrollers.
