The Synapse Wireless SNAP wireless data solution is the latest in
intelligent wireless communication modules. Synapse takes 802.15.4
Zigbee/XBee style communication one step further, and makes it smart.
Synapse
modules are microcontroller-based, and designed to inherently mesh
together. The SNAP software
lets you access every node in the network from a single point
(base-station/microcontroller/PC equipped with module), and as they
already have a microcontroller, these can be used
stand-alone!
The modules themselves are
reprogrammable, and use e mbedded Python as their programming
language. These modules even make available the extra I/O,
analog-to-digital converters and timers! These are smart
802.15.4-based modules!

Synapse's
standard schpeal regarding their IEEE
802.15.4 RF module:
A small, low-power,
2.4 GHz plug-in transmitter-receiver module with an extended range up
to three miles and power consumption as low as 2.5 uA. The RF Engine
Modules come loaded with the Synapse SNAP network stack and
will
immediately integrate into the network and start routing signals from
other nodes. Typical applications include a wireless serial port,
sensor monitoring, actuator control, or an intelligent embedded
controller - the possibilities are limitless. Synapse RF Engine
modules
can be used in conjunction with off-the-shelf SNAP nodes or to
power
custom wireless nodes that have been developed by third-parties such as
the end-user.
